It Takes More Than Genetics
Some people may say that genetics plays a role in being able to jump, or that height gives an advantage. This is not necessarily true though, as jumping is a skill that anyone can develop. Put a shorter player who can jump against a taller one who can’t, and the player who jumps best will win every time!
There are many different exercises you can do in order to improve your jumping skills. Some involve the use of equipment or a gym memberships, while others such as plyometrics do not. As there are dozens of different exercises, we can’t possibly list them all here.

How To Improve Your Vertical Jump Without Equipment
One very easy way to develop explosive power is by practicing standing hops. You can do this by beginning with your feet at shoulder width, and then going down in a crouch position on both legs. Then, launch yourself upwards off of one leg, and land on the opposite leg. Repeat.
This is another underused form of jump training. Not only does running up flights of stairs improve your jumping skills, you will also get a cardio workout at the same time!
You don’t need to use weights in order to perform squats. You can also do them without. We would suggest combining squats with a jump in order to really work those leg muscles out.
