Exercises Designed To Increase Vertical Jump Height
These exercise all focus on the muscles involved in jumping. We suggest you incorporate them into your workout program in a way where you can leave a day between each workout to recover.
Squat Jump to Stick
Aimed at improving your vertical jump, and for increasing your vertical leap and landing position.
Start the exercise by standing in an upright position, with your feet at shoulder width. Then, keep the chest upright, whilst pushing the hips down and back so that your thighs are at a 45 degree angle. Now, swiftly push to the floor and leap into the air whilst extending the hips, legs, and ankles. You should land with flat feet with your thighs at 45 degrees, and then repeat the exercise for as many reps and sets as your workout program suggests.
Squat Jump to Single Leg Stick
This exercise will increase vertical jump height and also improve the skill and position of landing on one leg.
Start the exercise in a similar posture to that described above. You will also leap into the air in the same manner. When it comes to landing though, you should land on one leg, with a flat foot, with your thigh at 45 degrees. Repeat the exercise, and this time land on the other leg. Continue for as many reps and sets as your workout program suggests.
Jumping Knee Tucks
Begin in a standing position, with your feet at shoulder width. Now, jump straight up into the air, clutch your knees to your chest, and then land in the same spot. You should repeat this exercise without pause for as many reps and sets as your workout program recommends.
Forward and Backward Line Hop
Either place down a line, or imagine a straight line on the floor. Now, jump forwards and backwards over the line as rapidly as possible. This should be repeated for as many reps and sets as your workout schedule recommends.
