We have a complete guide to exercises to jump higher at the end of this article. Before that though, we would like to share with you 3 simple exercises which can improve your jump when carried out over time.
3 Exercises To Jump Higher
The 3 exercises to jump higher, are High Rim Jumps, Repeated Broad Jumps, and Squat Jumps. We have described the exercises below, and for more information, you can also refer to our guide mentioned at the end of the article.
High Rim Jump
- Begin the exercise with your arms at your side, and your knees and waist slightly bent. Then, look upward. If you have a basketball rim there, that’s great. If not, just focus on a high spot above you.
- Now, it’s time to jump up and down over and again as fast as you can. Each time you reach the highest point, reach up with your arms and try and touch the target. Keep focusing on jumping up and down as rapidly as possible, and on landing, do not bend down too low.
- Repeat the exercise for as long as your workout program recommends.
Repeated Broad Jumps
Start this jumping exercise by placing your legs at shoulder width, preferably on a fairly soft surface. (Grass is ideal). The aim now, is to jump as high as you can, land, quickly turn your body 180 degrees, and then jump again. Repeat this exercise for as many times as your workout program suggests.
This exercise involves a barbell.
Begin this exercise in a squat position, whilst holding the barbell directly in front of your shoulders. Now, quickly jump up, whilst pressing the barbell upwards above your body at the same time, and then land on the balls of your feet. Repeat the exercise without break for the suggested number of reps and sets.
* Important note – Start off with a light weight to begin with in order to avoid injury.
These 3 exercises to jump higher can produce great results, but the results are magnified when they are combined with a purposefully designed jump training program. You of course also need to put time and dedication into the program. By committing fully, you will start to notice dramatic results.
